On Friday 16 May, Wind Farm Bovenwind in Staphorst was officially opened during a meeting with stakeholders. The three wind turbines symbolise years of commitment from local entrepreneurs, residents and other stakeholders. The following day interested parties visited the wind farm during the open day, where there was an opportunity for meeting, talking and experiencing.

On behalf of Pondera, Mark van Doorn, Egbert Jansen and Ton Huijben were present to celebrate this success together. In wind turbine 1, they interacted with visitors to explain about the wind turbines and technology. Great to see the high level of community involvement in this project. 

The opening of Windpark Bovenwind is a good time to look back at the process that took place beforehand. Since the establishment of Coöperatie Wij Duurzaam Staphorst in 2018, intensive work has gone into the development of this unique project. What started as a local initiative grew into an outstanding example of local ownership in energy transition. Almost 300 members, including many local entrepreneurs, contributed content and financially to the realisation. 

Pondera has been involved in the project from the beginning, supporting Wij Windenergie Staphorst B.V. in the entire development process: from permits and stakeholder management to contracting, financing and grid connection. In doing so, we are working with ASN Bank, Greenchoice, Enexis, Reimert, Van den Heuvel, Outsmart and ENERCON, among others, to make this project a success.
